New Delhi [India], October 18 (ANI): Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said that the Ministry has set a target of investing Rs 80 lakh crore in the maritime industry during the next 25 years.
Speaking to ANI, Sarbananda Sonowal said that if an investment of Rs 6 lakh crore can be made in two days during Global Maritime India Summit 2023 then why can’t it be Rs 80 lakh crore during the next 25 years?
“Conversations with stakeholders have continued. If so much investment can be made in such a short time, then why can’t we do it in 25 years? It can be done comfortably in 25 years. I think this is also a small amount and can be a big investment expected ” he added.
Union Minister Sonowal speaking to ANI on the Signing of MoUs during 2 days said it is tremendous.
“More than 300 MoUs have been signed, investment commitments of more than Rs 6 lakh crore have been received so far and tomorrow is still the day if this much has been achieved within two days. It is the dream and vision of the Prime Minister. Now we are committed to fulfilling his vision and every stakeholder associated with our port sector is committed to this subject. Today an environment has been created where investment can take place,” he said.
Union Minister Sonowal further said that Investment on such a large scale could never have been thought of before 2014 and it was never even thought of in the port sectors. There was no discussion or work that had been done during the Congress rule. Now India is the leading maritime nation due to the progressive vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“If you compare today, not only the people of India but the people of the world have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the work he has shown in every sector,” he added.
Union Minister added that the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 9.5 years, he has adopted the policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and through this, 140 crores of Indian citizens have worked to show their strength in different sectors and as a result, the country has gained momentum in the journey of development.
