People from all over the globe think that the main danger to a country is from its external enemy’s and this is true to some extent, but nowadays the nation’s security is also defined by its internal stability also known as 0.5 warfare.
As Chanakya said that there are 4 type of threats to a nation i.e external, internal aided external, internal and external aided internal. The latter two being part of 0.5 warfare. Nowadays countries focus more on destabilizing a hostile country internally because it doesn’t cost them much and also they are not easily caught in this.
Recently many incidents are seen as with a threat that external intervention was their like the Protests in Delhi when US president Trump came to India, the incident that shook India on 26 January 2021.
The importance of 0.5 Warfare can be seen by the fact that Beijing doesn’t allow any external information to reach out to its common citizen but it has various sources in many big institutions of Europe, US and many countries of the world.
When there is an internal threat then the leadership is unable to focus more dedicatedly on external issues and that is unacceptable for a Nation’s Security and for dealing with that issue we need a proper planning i.e a National Security Doctrine that will guide our country on matters of conflict.
In the current scenario we can see Countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Solomon Islands Facing external threats because they were internally destabilized. It gives us a Idea how important is the role of 0.5 Warfare.
Information (Knowledge) will play a very important role for 0.5 warfare as a country which will have information about itself or other Nations then the country can be prepared for the upcoming threat.
In the end I want to say that “Internal issues will play a key role in external manifestation of nations and money and wealth creation along with the integration of national security doctrine is pertinent to the growth of India.”
