BANDERA and His Role in Russia-Ukraine Conflict

If anyone who knows Soviet Union expanded after World War 1 knows very well that the Polish and Ukrainian city hated each other. Poland captured Liviv now a Ukrainian city back in 1920s. Ukraine has its own language, culture different from that of Russian culture ( for crude example How culture of Nepal and north India differ from each other) it might look same but is different.

Then comes in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s STEPHEN BANDERA (remember his name) the main reason Putin thinks Ukraine has neo-Nazis even having a Jewish President. This man Stephen Bandera was a Ukrainian ultra nationalist demanding Ukrainian sovereignty, today’s Ukraine was then divided between Poland and USSR back in 1930s. With the Nazi occupation of Poland back in 1939, the Nazis wanted to control Polish resistance as well as wanted intelligence from USSR. The best man Nazis had for this job was Stephen Bandera and his militia organization call OUN (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalist). This organization carried out genocide against JEWS, POLES, GYPSIES, COMMUNIST killing hundreds and thousands who were then under Nazi occupation. After some altercation with Nazis and question regarding Ukrainian sovereignty, the OUN also started targeting Nazis and during final year of World War 2 the OUN was targeted by the Soviets as well as Nazis.

Stephen Bandera was killed in 1959 by the Soviet’s for the Terrorist activities and large scale genocide against JEWS, POLES GYPSIES during World War 2.

Many in Ukraine still believes that Bandera was a Ukrainian Nationalist and keeping a blind eye on his other activities like genocide and crime against humanity. He was even conferred the tile of “HERO OF UKRAINE” in 2010, Israel and Poland objected it. In 2014 Kyiv’s City Council renamed Moscow Avenue to Stephen Bandera Avenue following the annexation of Crimea.

Now we must understand that West Ukraine is more culturally and inclined to Europe and East Ukraine sharing its biggest border with Russia is culturally and economically more inclined to Russia.

Now back to Zelensky the current President of Ukraine who won the 2019 Presidential election. His main opponent was Poroshenko a far right politician. There was a bitter battle between Zelensky and Poroshenko on whether who was smore nationalist, eventually both supporting Bandera’s philosophy. This led to suspicion among East Ukrainian region particularly the Donbass region which is ethically, culturally more Russian and hated Bandera’s philosophy.

Russia who treated Ukraine as its own courtyard saw a change in government which was anti-Russian as well as pro-NATO. Seeing the opportunity to interfere in the Donbass region it started secessionist activity this led to Civil War in Donbass region. West Ukrainian who hated Russian interference and were ultra nationalist started forming their own militia organization the perfect example of it is the AZOV group who functions on the ideal of Bandera philosophy. These groups are now officially part of Ukrainian Civil Defense Forces and there are many reports of human rights violation by these groups in the Donbass region. Even the US didn’t want to be associated with these groups.

Thus we can say that there are some neo-Nazi elements in Ukrainian politics but it is wrong to say that the whole Ukrainian government is working on neo-Nazi philosophy. The Blunder Ukrainian government did was officially associated itself with this groups, thus was carried out as justification by the Russian Federation for Special Military Operation (Invasion) of Ukraine with the official goal of Demilitarization and Denazification of Ukraine.
