India : Bringing a Superpower on its Knees

Did we just make President Joe Biden make a U-turn on his words. A simple phone call by our highly beloved and respected James Bond, Mr. Ajit Doval to Mr. Jack Sullivan turned the statements and actions of the White House upside down.
Has India already began a journey towards becoming a world leader. An influencer of it’s kind that brings together other powers of the world together against common enemies and against the so called world superpower.
It was more or less certain that US would come to India’s aid at the time of such pandemic. Not to forget President Biden’s words that India was supporting US at the time of crisis by send millions of doses of HCQ last year. A reciprocating White House was always on the cards. But what took it so long? Today India is safegaurding US interest all along Asia and Europe. A bad relation with India and US would lose its dominance on the world stage.
1. US wants to pull out of Afghanistan by 09/11. India has a huge stake with the Ashraf Gani govt in Afghanistan. Modi and Gani are so close, that without the support of India, US will not be able to pull out of Afghanistan. Or else who are they going to trust. Russia, Iran, China or their best friend Pakistan. India is the only trusted ally that can actually help them.
2. Keeping Iran at bay. India has no one on one problem with Iran. In fact I love Iran. They were the ones that were willing to supply us crude oil and take majority of the payment in Indian Rupees. That would have saved us countless dollars. It’s because of US sanction and interest that we taken an unnecessary quarrel with Iran. We can still be friends with them and import oil. Plus we also have a great deal of stake at Chabahar port.
3. Russia and India have always been natural allies. Be it supplying us with modern fighter aircrafts or sending help during 1971 war. I’ve always felt a rather close bond with Mother Russia and its business minded children. Today the world has come to accept that the THAAD air defense system is no match for the S-400. It’s a strong lobby from the US that is still holding us to purchase this missile system. Holding onto US interest against Russia. What if India were to purchase the S400. How long do you think the US sanctions would hold.
4. Coming to the Indo-Pacific region. Will the QUAD stay. Or the media today is talking about the Triad. Australia, Japan and India. Biden seems to be a weak President and the world leaders do not seem to have the same respect as they did for Donald Trump or Obama. US exit from the Quad would mean their exit from the Indian Ocean, South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. They would be left insignificant. And if this was to happen, US would have no respect left with Asia or Europe. Plus UK and France have already expressed their interest to become a part of the Quad. Which brings me to my next point.
5. UK is finally taking decisions on it’s own. Seems like they’ve grown up. And not just mouthing US’s words. They came on their own to help India in the need of the hour. France already has shown that it is a true ally of India. Ties between India and France have never been better. Angela Merkel also took a U-turn and came to India’s aid. Though she taunted India like a typical Punjabi housewife, sheer out of jealousy. So in a nutshell, India seems to much closer to the EU than the US.
6. The Arabs, whom the Pakistanis used to call Birather mulk, is now practically calling us Birather mulk. Saudi and UAE are finally out of the shadows of US and are now treading on equal terms. Prince Salman in his latest interview also expressed to become friends with Iran. Imagine if that were to happen. Imagine if India and Israel were to unite these two. Then neither would need either US money or diplomacy.
Concluding this I would like share my views on this entire scenario.
The US elected a President that is just here to do the opposite of his predecessor. Be it good or bad. He has no firm stand on any of the world issues. He has no viewpoint on a bully like China. He has in fact not even blamed China for the pandemic because of which thousands on Americans lost their lives.
Today India is looking after so many vested interest of the United States in the Asia – Pacific region. That if Biden was to look in the eyes of Modi, he’d shy away in a glimpse.
Not that we would want to blackmail the United States, but maybe just them a lesson in International politics. What we call the Chanakya Neeti.
