Lavrov says Russia does not want war in Europe

Wed, 11 May 2022   |  Reading Time: < 1 minute

(Reuters) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Moscow did not want war in Europe, but that Western countries were keen to see Russia defeated in its military campaign in Ukraine.

“If you are worried about the prospect of war in Europe – we do not want that at all,” Lavrov said at a news conference in Muscat after talks with his Omani counterpart.

“But I draw your attention to the fact that it is the West that is constantly and persistently saying that in this situation, it is necessary to defeat Russia. Draw your own conclusions.”

Poor Lavrov. None of this since February 2022, has gone Russia's way. Sadly, now the whole world knows that Russian arms are hopeless, their soldiers even worse, their logistics and intelligence lousy, and all they've got is WWII era bombs that can pulverize (i.e., not effective anywhere but in their border states and inside). The wealth is confiscated, banks are frozen, trade is seriously and irreparably damaged, the conviction on alternative fuels has strengthened. Europe is united like never before, NATO is seriously cohesive, and US is dominating. I.e., the exact opposite of what Putin wants, is happening. In a hundred difference ways, Russia is weakened severely, and all of it sadly is its own doing. Lavrov and others can say what they want. No one who matters, and is currently engaged in weakening Russia, is listening.
